Paul Williamson
Hon. President & Founder

Born in Stoke-on-Trent 1941.

I discovered the joys and wonders of poetry and literature (plays) at Drama School (Northern School of Music, Manchester 1959-61)

I have written Poems and Songs - Social, Policitical and Human situation Poems and Songs. Life Photo - Shot Poems. Sketches of local scenes from the past based on memories (Prose Poems).

I have written "Equal Voices - Poems from the Potteries" which are 14 poems concerning disability issues.

I have recently produced a poetry pamphlet entitled "Poems from the Highways and Byways of Stoke & Beyond".

I have written a play for radio or stage called "Hitch Up & Move On!". This tells a story of a Gypsy family having a hard time finding a place to stay at Christmas time. The daughter is pregnant, she goes into labour, mother acts as Midwife. Mick, the husband of the daughter, is trying to help but Yob's have smashed the caravan windows. A policeman arrives and tells the family to hitch up and move on.

I'm currently working on a social documentary balled (Words and Music).

I've been helped and encouraged by other writers coming to our meetings at City Central Library. The many poems I've had the good fortune to listen to over the years have given me great pleasure and inspiration. Thanks to all!
